Crystal Saga is a free browser game that looks like RO, the anime MMORPG. While Crystal Saga runs in real time in your browsers.
There is a pretty easy-to-handle approach to the gameplay of the browser-based MMORPG Crystal Saga. Although a series of five classes with their respective specializations are provided in advance before the game’s true features are revealed, the limitation in customization is obvious. Not a slight piece of decoration is designed for players to create their desirable characters. Therefore, I just click a female role and initiate my journey in the world of Crystal Saga. It is possible that in the developers’ eyes, it is the combats, quests as well as the interactions among gamers that play a vital role.
The contrast between Crystal Saga and some other true-to-life MMORPGs is demonstrated the moment I log in the game. While it is a trend that MMORPGs are made to simulate the mortal world in a maximum degree, Crystal Saga sticks to the imaginative originality. The anime flavor and cartoonish graphics determine an overall lively and lovely style for the game.
The tutorials are helpful for beginners to best and fastest adjust themselves to the ordinary quest accomplishments. But the problem is, as I have repeatedly mentioned before, how can the tutorial words most efficiently coordinate with the remarkable arrows? Since the players are anxious to level up in a fast pace, they just need to click according to the arrows while pay little attention to the lengthy instructions. I am not saying that these constructions are unnecessary, but it is better that they could be shortened to some indispensable clues and tips in the form of concise phrases rather than complicated sentences.
The whole game follows a simple and concrete piece of tactics—defeat and promote. I start from scratch, and am supposed to complete a series of quest to advance to a higher level. During the battles against vultures, young grizzlies, and treants at different periods of level, a wide range of items are released as rewards to equip my hero. In this way, the previously mentioned lack of customization is complemented; moreover, the further you advance, the more exquisitely armed your character will be.
What is really annoying is that there is a frequently lost connection to server, especially when my hero is engaging in fierce battles against their enemies. Every time the battle comes to an abrupt halt, I have to suffer the torturing process of re-entering and re-attacking. It seems that this game is not only testing my gameplay tactics, but also challenging my patience, huh?
I should have to say that the preliminary period of game is really whetting my appetite. From the very beginning, I am told that the promotion to level 10 enables players to tame a pet. Therefore, I make up my mind to endure any torture just for a right to tame a pet. Compared with some other games at whose primary stage the players just spare the slightest effort to level up to 10, Crystal Saga has set a series of rather troublesome obstacles from the start—though simple in pattern, yet difficult and laborious to overcome.
However, the situation is opposite to the saying “You have to earn what you receive”. As I am tottering along to the 10th level, a mini window prompts out, telling me that I should recharge my account to tame the pet with enough crystals. To be frank, I was previously not quite aware of the purpose of the game, but now it seems to buy crystals to advance in the game. I am not sure of this conclusion, but what is certain is that the essence of the game lies in the “pay for fun” part.
Dozens of Maps
Don’t let the fact that this game runs in a browser fool you! The world of Vidalia is vast and contains dozens of both PvE and PvP zones to fight in. With 50+ outdoor maps, 10+ dungeons and battlegrounds, your time on Vidalia will be far from boring.
5 Unique Classes
With the Knight, Mage, Rogue, Priest, and Ranger classes available at launch, Crystal Saga is sure to provide a gaming experience to fit your play style. As in any MMO, a good combination of tanks, healing, and DPS is essential to defeating tougher enemies.
Battle Wings
One of Crystal Saga’s coolest new features is the ability for all characters to equip a pair of battle wings. These wings can be upgraded over dozens of levels, with each levelup upgrading both the appearance of the wings as well as further boosting your character’s stats.

R2Games, the publisher of Caesary and Age of Honor, announced on Sunday that Crystal Saga has reached 100,000 registered players as of september 3. For browser MMORPG, R2Games seems to be one of successful publishers in its registered users. However, the number of registered users does not guarantee the future retention.
